The two are separated\u00a0by the political forces of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/French_Revolution\">French Revolution<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This romantic epic is really a warning about the then contemporary dangers of Bolshevism and communism.<\/p>\n<p>The popular conception of silent films is so wrapped up in ideas of Charlie Chaplin most people assume\u00a0all silent films are comedies, but the films of D.W. Griffith are elaborate epics, huge movies made when it actually took thousands of people to film large scenes.<\/p>\n<p>While not as important as Griffith&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Birth of a Nation\u00a0<\/em>(1915) or its apology <em>Intolerance<\/em> (1916), this film is a\u00a0decent melodrama and still engaging almost one hundred years after its premiere.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tenkmovies.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/03\/untitled3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-165\" src=\"https:\/\/tenkmovies.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/03\/untitled3.png\" alt=\"All My Babies\" width=\"205\" height=\"246\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0344807\/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1\">All My Babes: A Midwife&#8217;s Own Story<\/a><\/em>\u00a0(1953)<\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0short documentary about midwives in the rural south in the first half of the twentieth century was\u00a0\u00a0added to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Film_Registry\">National Film Registry<\/a> in 2002.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re interested in the recent past, or midwifery, check this out.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not a life changing film, but it was very interesting; one of the better non-fictional films in the National Film Registry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Orphans of the Storm\u00a0(1921) In the late 18th century, Henriette (Lillian Gish) takes her blind sister Louise (Dorothy Gish) to Paris to find a doctor\u00a0who can\u00a0cure her condition.
