{"id":245,"date":"2014-03-23T21:45:16","date_gmt":"2014-03-23T21:45:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/?p=245"},"modified":"2021-02-26T16:54:34","modified_gmt":"2021-02-26T16:54:34","slug":"hello-i-loved-you-but-not-anymore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/?p=245","title":{"rendered":"Hello, I loved you, but not anymore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tenkmovies.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/03\/220px-doorsposter1991.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-246\" src=\"https:\/\/tenkmovies.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/03\/220px-doorsposter1991.jpg?w=194\" alt=\"The Doors (1991)\" width=\"194\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0101761\/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1\">The Doors<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(1991)<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the standard musical biopic, this movie makes no effort to portray Jim Morrison as a redeemable character.\u00a0 When your protagonist is a selfish asshole who likes drugs, your film is at a disadvantage.\u00a0 When you spend considerable amounts of time recreating one acid trip after another,\u00a0your movie becomes tedious.<\/p>\n<p>Val Kilmer is believable as the mercurial front man of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Doors\">The Doors<\/a>, but he&#8217;s totally unlikable.<\/p>\n<p>Meg Ryan is miscast as Morrison&#8217;s girlfriend, Pamela Courson.\u00a0 When I think of her, the last thing I think of is drug addled slut, but\u00a0apparently the producers of this film thought she was a perfect fit\u00a0.\u00a0 Maybe Ryan was desperate to do something other than the light-hearted romantic comedies which had endeared her to America, but there are worse fates than to be beloved and one of those is to be associated with this film.<\/p>\n<p>I like The Doors music, but after watching this, I like it a little less.<\/p>\n<p>Olive Stone has made a few movies I like including <em>JFK<\/em> (1990) and <em>Natural Born Killers<\/em> (1995), but this is a joyless film about a talented egomaniac.\u00a0 Somewhere in this mess a good movie may lie in hiding, but I don&#8217;t want to watch it again to find it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; The Doors\u00a0(1991) Unlike the standard musical biopic, this movie makes no effort to portray Jim Morrison as a redeemable character.\u00a0 When your protagonist is a selfish asshole who likes drugs, your film is at a disadvantage.\u00a0 When you spend considerable amounts of time recreating one acid trip after another,\u00a0your movie becomes tedious.
