This film is a chronicles one of the greatest, unheralded directors in Hollywood history, John Milius<\/a>, a film school classmate of\u00a0Spielberg<\/a>, Coppola<\/a>, and\u00a0Lucas<\/a>, and one of the shapers of Hollywood in the 1970s<\/a>. While his classmates\u00a0were directing their own films, Milius was earning record money as a screenwriter for Jeremiah Johnson<\/em> (1972) and The Life and Times\u00a0of Judge Roy <\/em>Bean<\/em> (1972).<\/p>\n

He wrote the USS Indianapolis<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>scene\u00a0in\u00a0Jaws\u00a0<\/em>(1975).<\/p>\n

He wrote Apocalypse Now<\/em> (1979).<\/p>\n

His friendship with George Lucas led to a percentage of the profits from Star Wars <\/em>(1977).<\/p>\n

He’s allegedly the inspiration for Walter Sobchak in The Big Lebowski <\/em>(1998).<\/p>\n

He directed Conan the Barbarian <\/em>(1982) and Red Dawn<\/em> (1984).<\/p>\n

Milius should be a household name like many of his contemporaries, but his pro-American, anti-communist point of view was unpopular with the left-leaning Hollywood elite.<\/p>\n

This film attempts to reassess his legacy and proves friendship transcends ideology. Several well-known liberals appear in the film to praise him\u00a0because their love for him\u00a0and respect for his work outweighs their personal belief. If only this attitude were more widespread.<\/p>\n

For a quarter century, the families of those who died fought to have the name and reputation of their loved ones cleared and those responsible for the incident brought to justice.<\/p>\n
