All of this culminates in long delayed reconciliation between Ray and his deceased father during a game of catch.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Deceased Shoeless Joe Jackson (Ray Liotta) and other member of the infamous Black Sox emerge from the corn to play the game they love, while Moonlight Graham transforms from an old man into a younger version of himself to reclaim his dream and then back into his older self to save Ray&#8217;s choking daughter (Gabby Hoffman).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The film romanticizes baseball as the preeminent bond between father and son. It&#8217;s hokey and takes liberties with the JD Salinger inspired Mann, but it&#8217;s hard not to tear up watching Ray play catch with his dad.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It&#8217;s what every child wants from their parent: to remain fixed in that time when spending ten minutes playing a game with dad was the greatest thing in the world. Who hasn&#8217;t lost a parent and yearned for one last game of catch? Automatic laces. Mr. Fusion. Flying cars. A Miami baseball team. The Cubs winning the World Series. And, of course, the hoverboard.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Watching it now, the dystopian present plays like a pro-version of the Trump era.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Going back to the past and rewatching the events from the first movie from a different perspective is fun, and the twist, when Doc is accidentally sent back to 1885 and has a Western Union telegram delivered to Marty in his future, is a clever way to set up a sequel.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This movie is, in its own way, just as iconic and influential as the first, expanding the first film&#8217;s universe in exciting ways.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fimage.tmdb.org%2Ft%2Fp%2Foriginal%2F2GTk5T9AEXBDgtgeEchGGaTTPM4.jpg&amp;f=1&amp;nofb=1&amp;ipt=a11e73b797d57f20b7d7ce9424a2fc0e5319a287e83decbdf095b80cdfa54053\" alt=\"Driving Miss Daisy (1989) - Posters \u2014 The Movie Database (TMDB)\" width=\"302\" height=\"453\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Driving-Miss-Daisy.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9376\" src=\"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Driving-Miss-Daisy.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>8)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0097239\/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1\"><em>Driving Miss Daisy<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>After the second World War, Boolie Werthan (Dan Aykroyd) hires a black chauffer, Hoke Colburn (Morgan Freeman) for his elderly mother Daisy Werthan (Jessica Tandy).\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As Hoke drives Miss Daisy around Atlanta, the two develop a unique friendship which transcends their race and class differences.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The performances of the central characters \u00a0(Aykroyd, Freeman, and Tandy) are superb. The movie oversimplifies the realities of race in America, but it points to a world where we can see each other as people and not monolithic representatives of different groups.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ffr.web.img6.acsta.net%2Fpictures%2F22%2F10%2F07%2F09%2F47%2F0708130.jpg&amp;f=1&amp;nofb=1&amp;ipt=dfd895fbedc4e5c4a3c851e65b736791d8b3443d4132384a237e146e92053d0d\" alt=\"Batman - Film 1989 - AlloCin\u00e9\" width=\"454\" height=\"596\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Batman.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9377\" src=\"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Batman.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>7)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0096895\/?ref_=nv_sr_4?ref_=nv_sr_4\"><em>Batman<\/em><\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Michael Keaton&#8217;s Batman will always have a special place in my heart, and Jack Nicholson&#8217;s Joker is second only to Ledger; while Jack Palance, Kim Basinger, and Robert Wuhl give memorable performances.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Today, it seems crazy to think of Tim Burton directing a superhero movie, but it was a well suited match.\u00a0I prefer the sequel, but I still think of this movie quite a bit and it remains in contention for my favorite superhero movie.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.posteritati.com%2Fposters%2F000%2F000%2F054%2F523%2Fthe-decalogue-md-web.jpg&amp;f=1&amp;nofb=1&amp;ipt=103f926737b153c0facac2be137ada12484bb8082cb3b5d7a57dafb9c3cea363\" alt=\"The Decalogue Original 1989 French Petite Movie Poster - Posteritati ...\" width=\"565\" height=\"768\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Decalog.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9378\" src=\"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Decalog.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>6)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0092337\/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1\"><em>Decalog<\/em><\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Kristof Kieslowski&#8217;s ambitious miniseries about the Ten Commandments is a loosely connected study with a couple of thru characters, one of which might be a supernatural figure.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It&#8217;s a great rumination on the spiritual, casting the commandments as a set of ideals instead of a literal set of rules and exploring the way these principles can be extrapolated.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Last-Crusade.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9379\" src=\"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Last-Crusade.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwallpapercave.com%2Fwp%2Fwp4137814.jpg&amp;f=1&amp;nofb=1&amp;ipt=c56c22ff55ce0f6a20eb2d5d362acf83e7edd318f04e033f1769f221a37dd8e2\" alt=\"Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade Wallpapers - Wallpaper Cave\" width=\"561\" height=\"833\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>5)<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0097576\/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1\">\u00a0<em>Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade<\/em><\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Holy Grail is a better Macguffin than the previous film and a natural progression from the Ark of the original.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Spielberg (who famously wanted to direct a James Bond film), got close to his wish, directing Connery as Indy&#8217;s dad.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It&#8217;s filled with memorable lines: &#8220;X marks the spot.&#8221; &#8220;He&#8217;d get lost in his own museum.&#8221; &#8220;She talks in her sleep.&#8221; &#8220;You have chosen poorly.&#8221;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>And memorable scenes: The elder Jones using his umbrella to manipulate a flock of birds into taking out a Nazi threat. Hitler signing the book.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I&#8217;m not prepared to say this is better than <em>Raiders<\/em>, but it&#8217;s in the ballpark. The first Indy movie I saw in theaters left an indelible impression on me.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fimage.tmdb.org%2Ft%2Fp%2Foriginal%2FlGvLBxPDSqBbrvZBmbKFEi91QDo.jpg&amp;f=1&amp;nofb=1&amp;ipt=0d9912b1fe71ee617ee188d4cba2c524d2858df5c535b3a89044993fcc89d610\" alt=\"Henry V (1989) - Filmer - Film . nu\" width=\"414\" height=\"621\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Henry-V.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9380\" src=\"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Henry-V.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>4)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0097499\/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1\"><em>Henry V<\/em><\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Following the playbook of his idol, Laurence Olivier, Kenneth Branagh directed himself in this version of the Bard&#8217;s venerable play.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>His version features an incredible cast: Robbie Coltrane as Falstaff; Paul Scofield as the king of France; Emma Thompson (Brannagh&#8217;s then wife); Judi Dench; Derek Jacobi; a young Christian Bale; and\u00a0demonstrates how evergreen and adaptable the material is.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fstatic1.colliderimages.com%2Fwordpress%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsharedimages%2F2024%2F04%2Fdead-poets-society-poster.jpg&amp;f=1&amp;nofb=1&amp;ipt=cabd8a667a4abe73ac59ac6541b1eded22142dbc1918fc47f71b952f09f5ec16\" alt=\"'Dead Poets Society' Review \u2014 Robin Williams' Lessons Still Hit Home\" width=\"319\" height=\"479\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Dead-Poets-Society.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9381\" src=\"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Dead-Poets-Society.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>3)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0097165\/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1\"><em>Dead Poets Society<\/em><\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This story of a charming English teacher at a New England, male prep school in the late 1950s is what we all wish our education was like, teaching us to strive for ideals, giving us the courage to find who we really are.\u00a0John Keating (Robin Williams) is funny and probing, a sort of Uber-teacher.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The black and white view of education is unrealistic and I&#8217;m sure there are think pieces on the privilege the film espouses, but this movie had a deep impact on me as an adolescent and forever formed my opinion of Walt Whitman as a &#8220;sweaty toothed madman.&#8221;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In addition to Williams, Kurtwood Smith, Normal Lloyd, Sean Leonard, Josh Charles and, of course, Ethan Hawke give standout performances.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In spite of my deep affection for the film, there are parts of it which are harder to understand thirty years later: Neil&#8217;s death now plays a like a glorification of suicide as a viable alternative to not being able to live your truth.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>However, the possibilities it opened up are still foundational to my understanding, and the climatic ending, when the boys show they have internalized Keating&#8217;s admonishment to &#8220;seize the day,&#8221; is still powerful.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Dad.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9382\" src=\"http:\/\/tenkmovies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Dad.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fm.media-amazon.com%2Fimages%2FM%2FMV5BNjcwOTE5MGMtNGU1ZC00M2RmLThlZjQtYzdiMTQ3MzY2MjQ1XkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNjE5MjUyOTM%40._V1_FMjpg_UX1000_.jpg&amp;f=1&amp;nofb=1&amp;ipt=2a3c9f26ef5c928f0ecd923ae5ac169689226aee08dc7ffad921a67f5a1fc144\" alt=\"Dad (1989) - FAQ - IMDb\" width=\"343\" height=\"508\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p>2)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0097142\/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_25\"><em>Dad<\/em><\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>My love of this obscure film is deeply personal. My dad died when I was young and a movie about a son coming to terms with his dad&#8217;s mortality is guaranteed to pull my heart strings.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Jack Lemmon&#8217;s performance as Jake Tremont is another notch in his illustrious career. Ted Danson&#8217;s turn as his son John is proof of his versatility. Ethan Hawke continues his stellar year as the third generation Tremont, whose own relationship with his dad has hit a bumpy spot. When she threatens to expose their affair, he arranges for someone to kill her.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Cliff Stern (Woody Allen) is hired by his brother-in-law Lester (Alan Alda) to make a documentary. During the job, he falls in love with Lester&#8217;s assistant, Halley (Mia Farrow).
